Guys. My dreams have come true. Earlier this spring my husband and I bought 40 acres of land in Red Bud, Illinois. The property is out of a fairy tale: it has fields and woods, a pond and a spring-fed creek, and the sweetest little log cabin you've ever seen.
We have spent the last few months taking care of the property, installing electricity (THAT was a undertaking!), and cleaning the cabin. But we're finally on to the fun part: IT'S TIME TO DECORATE!
This baby is a blank slate of wood: wood floors, wood ceilings, wood walls. It oozes cozy country charm with vaulted ceilings and a wood-burning stove. But it desperately needs some color and texture, especially in the great room, as a well as a major furniture overhaul as we bought it furnished (with 20+ year old sofas and all...yuck).
I have put together two design mood boards for the cabin to help envision possible decor schemes. One is more masculine with darker tones, leather, and low-profile furniture. The other is a more traditional farmhouse feel with adorable birch-branch lamps and a plaid wingback chair.

I can't wait to get going on this project! Stay tuned in the following months to check on my progress :)
