Ten-second Tidy Tip: Put your stuff in Baskets and Bins

Have you ever walked into someone's house and it's one of those obnoxiously clean spaces? You think, "where's all the stuff?" Most of the time my house is pretty clutter free, but at the end of a busy week, or even just a busy day, it seems like small piles of junk have accumulated everywhere.

A fast way to quickly declutter is super simple: put the stuff in a basket or bin.

There is something truly magical about a storage basket. That woven wicker instantly turns ugly clutter into an intentional collection of items.

This small countertop is taken from messy to tidy.

And this desk nook from unkempt to orderly.

Finally, this mudroom bench looks adorably uncluttered with simple metal bins for shoes and other goodies tucked beneath.

Give it a try in your own home: take those bills, note cards, pens, chapstick tubes, sunglasses, tissues, junk mail, hair ties, boots, tape dispensers, remote controls, extra throw blankets, keys, spare change, other remote controls, gum, magazines, and wallets and find them a home in a storage basket or bin.

Here are some of our faves:
