YOU CAN’T HAVE too many cutting boards…

My favorite kitchen accessory for staging is a cutting board, no question. We typically pack 2-3 cutting boards for each project, but honestly I’m not sure you can have too many cutting boards. They are both functional and stylish and really pop against the kitchen backsplash (or hide an ugly backsplash). You don’t need to spend much money to find amazing styles and there are plenty of options at most large retailers, like Target, HomeGoods and Amazon. Perhaps using decorative cutting boards in the kitchen will just be a trend (one that I would be super sad to see go), but when used correctly I think they make such a statement. Here are some tips to using cutting boards in the kitchen.

CONSIDER THE KITCHEN COLORS AND MATERIALS

We keep in mind the colors and materials in the kitchen when selecting the right cutting boards. In a white kitchen, a wood cutting board adds a pop of color and contrast, whereas in a dark kitchen we would select a light colored board or perhaps a marble option. Similar to using plants (real or faux), using a touch of wood adds an element of warmth, particularly in a kitchen where surfaces are a bit sterile. layer multiple boards for visual interest

We like to layer 2-3 different cutting boards in open areas of the kitchen counter, typically varying the sizes and shapes, and sometimes even colors. Pay close attention to the scale of the boards in conjunction to the size height and width of the counter. You want to have some space around the boards, but also not choose a board that looks too small or inadequate in the space. By layering several boards along the counter you can cover more width in larger spaces. We also like to pair the cutting boards with small plants or other objects for a pop of color. find additional uses in bar areas or as a tray

Cutting boards look great in the kitchen, but they also work well in a bar area or as a tray. If you have a wet or dry bar in the house, a fun idea is style the area with a few cutting boards combined with a pop of color from a small bowl of lemons or limes. We also love to place boards behind a set of Perrier or liquor bottles. Again, you’re simply adding visual interest and different materials to the space. Larger cutting boards also look amazing as a tray on a kitchen island or dining table, topped with a plant, bowl of fruit, or decorative vignette.

When I’m feeling a bit uninspired in my own home, I like to make a lap around the house and move my accessories to different locations. You probably have a handful of cutting boards laying around so try different combinations, move them to another section of the kitchen, or use them as a tray to keep things fresh.
